You might very well have been pulled straight into bullet journaling, or the planner world, but it might overwhelming. And understandably so! You go looking for inspiration and every second post is something gorgeous, potentially unachievable right!? Getting started with creative productivity can either be fun or scary! Lets look into it more!
Try not to be sucked in, in the first instance, you want to find some sort of system that suits you. Not that suits someone else, not that suits me, not that suits your friends, but YOU. You are the only You! So finding something that works for you is the most important!
Finding the right system for YOU!
Starting at the very beginning, you want to determine your basic needs, do you need a dated planner to keep track of basic priorities? Or do you like the idea of the bullet journal system? Or do you want an art journal that tracks your development of arts? And if you find its NOT working for you, read this!
Lets start there:
Asking yourself these questions to find your journaling style:
- You like clean lines and want a minimalist style? Check out this post
- Your writing is a hot mess? Check out this post
- You want something really creative? Check out this post
- You want to combine both? Check out this post
Where should I start to find my style?
Starting by setting goals, what do you want to achieve, not only with your journal/planner style, but also with your life? If you want to buy a house by the end of the year, focus on a style or method that helps you achieve that goal, over rather going with something on trend or popular.
There are hundreds of styles of personal planners, which help you customise spreads for your goals (A spread is a layout of things on 2 pages of your journal/planner and notebooks – we use the spread a lot to reference those 2 pages side by side.)
So how do I set my goals and Intentions to find my style?
The best way to do this is to start with some sort of intention setting session. What intentions are you wanting to have every day? This could very well include a basic affirmation. Or it could be rediscovering your core values. Both this will help guide you towards what is important to you and this will ultimately help laser focus your goals for the year. Why is this important? Because it will also help guide your choice when it comes to planning, journaling and productivity.
