My name is Nicola, I am a mom first, a passionate creative second, and a career girl third. I have always been a journal writer, from the days of my “dear diary”, to my more adult, reflective focus and journaling practice.
Thank you for joining me here! On this journey of self discovery – planning and creativity! This page is an offshoot of our main business, and I welcome you to have we a look at it, we also run two other pages which all align to productivity, goal setting and creativity.
My Inner Creative The Pinnergrammer Plan Craft Do
About my bullet journal and planner experience
You’re here because you are either curious or because you want (like me) a step by step guide to creative journaling that is also productive! These are usually not synonymous and I have seen so many debates online that a creative journal isn’t productive or that a productive journal isn’t creative. Well that is positively ridiculous. Depending on what you want to achieve with your journey, each person needs different things from their journal, and who are we to judge what those are? I am in no position to tell you that you need a big block of paper for all the notes you take in meetings, when you don’t even go to meetings, or that you should track your moods, when this is something that doesn’t even register on your radar.
So why me? Why am I writing this book? Well – I struggled with this for a long time, either my journal was “to productive” or “too creative”, and I couldn’t really find the right balance. But lets take a step back for a second.
If Instagram was around when I was studying my undergraduate, I would have been all over #studygram with my creative colourful study notes. I read once that writing in color helps you retain it to memory more than black and blue. I have always been completely obsessed with stationery and planners/diaries and journals, and finding the right fit for me has taken many years.
I wanted to write this book to help those struggling with similar issues to me, finding the balance between creative journaling and keeping yourself productive. Because as a single mom I have to be smart with my time, I need to be able to present in everything I do to maintain that balance. So let’s get started! Together! (Imagine us holding hands skipping into a journaling sunset!)
